For nearly seventy five summers, Camp Hurontario’s small group philosophy has built lasting friendships, self-confidence and strong personal skills, in an unparalleled natural environment. This past weekend, after much deliberation and debate, we made the decision that summer at Camp Hurontario this year would look different, as we shift our plans from our traditional camper model to a family camp model in response to a variety of logistical and operational challenges presented by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Plans are moving forward swiftly for this pivot, and we can’t wait to welcome our staff to the island later in June to start preparing in earnest for Hurontario Family Camp. The islands will be buzzing with activity and positive vibrations as moms, dads, brothers, and sisters head out to try their hand at rock climbing or the ropes course, sign out paddle boards and zip out for a swim at one of the outer islands, jump off one of the towers or the amazing water toy, display their acting chops at skit night, or sit and enjoy an amazing evening sing-song while looking out at the calm waters of camp bay.
Even as we plan for the fun of family camp, we are looking ahead to summer 2022, when campers and staff will once again be back “for real” as we put the shifts, and pivots of the pandemic behind us. Thanks again for your support and understanding – we hope to see you at camp this summer with your families!
